Give we beseech thee, Almighty Father, the dignity of priesthood on these thy servants; renew in their hearts the spirit of sanctity, so that they may hold this office of the second order (second rank), which they have received from Thee and by the example of their life impart a worthy criterion of conduct. |
Almighty Father, grant to these of yours the dignity of the priesthood. Renew within them the Spirit of holiness. As CO-WORKERS with the order of bishops, may they be faithful to the ministry that they receive from you, Lord God, and be to others a model of right conduct. |
In Sacramentum Ordinis which determined the essential Rites for Ordination we read: ‟In the Ordination to the Priesthood, the matter is the first imposition of hands of the Bishop which is done in silence.” The imposition of hands in retained in the New Rite, although the words of the essential form are modified. This revision of the Rite invalidates the Sacrament. Also a priest is only given the power to loose sins, which is not the power of the Confessional. The duly authorized priest in the Confessional can both bind and loose, not just loose. By denying the power of binding, the Conciliar Church is denying the power of the priesthood.
John 20:22-23: “When he had said this, he breathed on them; and he said to them: Receive ye the Holy Ghost. Whose sins you shall forgive, they are forgiven them; and whose sins you shall retain, they are retained.”
